“Drive-in movies”
For our Mid-Summer Nights Series Finale, we are remembering the days of the Drive-In Movie theater! We used to pile up in my uncle’s beach-wagon car and all go to the drive-in for like $6.00 a carload! It was so much fun.
There are only a few drive-ins left in Rhode Island so be sure to check them out while they last.
Drive-in DIY
If you don’t have a drive-in where you live or don’t want to go to the one near you for various reasons, create your own drive-in theater in your own backyard like the one in the header photo. Be sure to have all the drive-in snacks and drinks as well. How fun would that be?
There’s always INSIDE as well! Make the best of Movie night IN! Opportunities are endless.
Drive-In (Movie-In) Food DIY
Popcorn
Get one of those stand-up popcorn machines on wheels! Put a side table out with a small microwave on it and a bowl filled with packets of popcorn and let everyone pop their own bag.
Pizza
Buy frozen pizzas and bake and serve or order a few large pizzas from your favorite pizza parlor nearby. Let everyone serve themselves, as well as you. This way you are a “guest” at your own party too.
Burger & Fries
You probably have a grill in the yard, just keep it lit all night for food and for ambiance and roasting marshmallows. Buy a box of frozen burgers, keep them in a cooler next to the grill. Serve chips instead of fries.
Smoothies/ Shakes
Set up a blender next to the microwave with a small cooler of frozen fruit and ice cream. Let everyone blend their own concoction. Have handy almond milk, seltzers, cool whip and disposable containers.

At The Movies
I HAVE to open my summer season with watching JAWS (my all-time favorite movie) and I also have to end the season watching it so, I make a whole “watch party” out of it. It sets the tone for my summer season. I hope you have a good movie night in the near future.
