NOTE:

Good morning to you, my readers. I know I have missed you the past 2 weeks (my Friday posts were on automatic meaning I pre-created them a month ago and I just came back doing my posts live last Friday). I am very happy to be back to posting weekly, it keeps my mind fresh and active. I realize that life is short and precious and none of us are promised tomorrow. Many of us lose loved ones dear to our hearts at all times. Some of us are going through difficult times in their heads for MANY different reasons and death doesn’t help when all things come to you at once. It’s never easy especially in these troubling times of the world. I extend to anyone that may be going through a difficult time, loss of family or friends or shelter or any other hard time that you may be going through- my sincere and heart felt love to you!

I also realize that this time of year brings about S.A.D.- Seasonal Affective Disorder, a type of depression that occurs during certain seasons, most commonly in the fall and winter when there is less sunlight. It is also sometimes called “winter depression”.

I truly understand this condition as it used to affect me when I was very young, but I came to learn to absolutely love the Fall through its beauty and became ‘friends’ with the early darkness of winter through cooking and my love of soup which gave me patience to look forward to the spring and warmer weather when its time comes. I pray whatever the reason for depression, sadness, loss, or any other thing that may be causing you grief, sadness or any other thoughts that may be harmful to you, PLEASE reach out to someone close, someone who loves and cares for you. If you cannot do that for whatever reason, there are help lines. PLEASE reach out. There are so many people that love you, unconditionally.

Ultimate Kitchens

I had my dream kitchen ONCE so far in my life and I never knew I needed that style in my life until I lived with it. Galley Kitchens I “Thought,” were awful, ugly, boring, not workable. Boy, was I SHOCKED when I found myself in my ultimate apartment with one. It was the BEST! The best for ‘everything’ mind you. The lay out is perfection! The storage is undeniably the best ever. The style is so comfortable and beautiful. I STILL dream of that apartment to this day and call the place at least every 2 years to see if they have vacancies. And I think you all know by now that I HAVE to have an island in my kitchen no matter what, but I found myself not needing one in my galley kitchen! Shocking, I know. If I found myself with one that had a wider footprint area like the 3rd one below, I would for sure put a small island in it anyway, lol.

Take a look at the simplicity of the style…

My Favorite:

SOUPS ON!!!

I’m sharing my favorite soups with you today because I haven’t done any current cooking during this time, and THANK YOU to my Davis Sisters-in-Love & Niece Candace Harper, for all the love and support we could have ever had along with my sister Shawnn Monteiro, friends Michelle Mazzulla, Tasha Wright, Destiny Burns, Nadine “Cocoa” Gomes, Jake & Josh, TJ Horton for your physical visits, drop offs and more. Also, to many more that have been here through a rough couple of weeks, checking on all of us through calls and text and many prayers! When we ARE up and ready again, you will be getting a call to get some of my homemade breads & soup, Renzi’s cookies and to spend some more time together. Sincerely….Thank you~

Stock your freezer with these great soups of comfort for a down day or a sick day. They are always soothing for the soul.

roasted Tomato basil

This is Ina Garten’s recipe for tomato soup that I absolutely adore. It’s so flavorful in itself, I just add Knorr as my broth base and more garlic.

Italian Wedding Soup

LINK

One soup I will never turn down is Italian Wedding Soup! If it’s served to me at a wedding, I could have 2- bowls and call it dinner. Absolutely LOVE! And Daves Marketplace has a prepared one in their soup caldrons that is delicious!

Venus De Milo Soup

LINK

Venus Di Milo is also a favorite and so easy and quick to make that it’s an all-time favorite. It’s a complete meal in one with beef as protein and lots of veggies.
