The Cosmetologist in Me!
I went to cosmetology school after I graduated high school in 1981. I went for the full program (hair, skin and nails) so if I got bored with one, I could do another. If you just go for a nail license, you can’t do hair because you have to take the State Board test to be licensed in hair. A nail technician license does not cover hair in RI as nail and hair are separate, distinct licenses. I loved and excelled in all 3 and did them all at the same time in salons I worked for, worked in as a booth renter and in my very own salon. It made it very interesting and I was hardly bored. I still do my family’s hair and nails etc. but do not take clients. I still love the industry, and watch shows like Tabatha’s Takeover and L.A. Hair in re-runs because they are so much fun. I lie to keep up on the trends having a 23-year-old daughter and we are both artistic, so we have a lot of fun. Some of the new things now…
I’m about to shag cut both mine and my daughter’s hair in the next week or so, I will share photos, maybe. LOL My daughters will resemble the shoulder shag and mine will be more like the medium shag. It’s all the same haircut technique, just different lengths.
Nails, Nails, Nails… shall we press on?
I am TOTALLY in love with these nails! For some odd reason, my natural nails have been growing like a weed and are strangely strong and healthy! All I have been doing is rubbing in cuticle oil every night and a strengthener every few days. But seeing these nails makes made me want acrylic again until I learned…
