Special Occasions & Dinner gatherings

I don’t celebrate holidays, but I do celebrate what we call “The Davis Family Celebration” on December 24th with my husband’s side of the family. It’s the anniversary of his mom and Dad’s wedding anniversary and when my husband and I got together he took me to meet his mom, and we got into a conversation about her and my husband’s dad. She told me all about the love of her life and how they met and married in a blizzard that happened on December 24th the year they got married and it was so romantic and beautiful that I told my husband I wanted to visit her every December 24th to spend the evening with her remembering her beloved husband, my father-in-law that I feel like I knew but never met. We went and got some drinks and appetizers and from that year on, my husband and I went to visit her on December 24th, and I made dinner and we had her and my fathers-in-law favorite cocktails.

We moved into the family home later and even after mom passed, we continued to have the “Davis Family Celebration” and invited the whole immediate family back home to celebrate with us because if it weren’t for his parents, he and his siblings would not be here nor he and I being married with our own daughter as well. I continue this ‘tradition’ every year I can. There have been a few years in the recent past that we could not celebrate of course if you keep up with the Blog and know our story but this year at the Stepping-Stone, we will continue the celebration, I guess I should say we will “re-start” the celebration. It will be small right now, but we are looking forward to it becoming like it used to in the next few years. Whatever and whenever you celebrate, enjoy it!
