Welcome once again, to another Coffee Cup Monday segment! I hope you had a great weekend~
I was very sad to learn that one of my very favorite restaurants is selling the business in Providence, RI. I visited this restaurant all through my High School years as its right across the street from the high school I attended, Hope High.
I went there after school to have their tortilla bowl salad, to die for. And the sangria was sooo fresh and good. My husband and I continued my love for it with him taking me on date nights there.

Owners Joanne and Mat have been there for more than 40 years, and they are retiring! They are keeping the building thankfully but are selling the business. I had a very nice conversation with Joanne on FB messaging years ago and we talked about the family that grew up across the street from the restaurant that I was very good friends with as well as she and told her all about my story with my husband and loving spending our dates there. She was so sweet and loved our story. Well-deserved and job well done, enjoy your retirement to the fullest!

My husband and I had date nights there before we got married. We used to sit at the bar and drink Fosters Oil Can beers in his attempt to teach me how to do shots so I wouldn’t get drunk trying it with hard liquor. I STILL can’t do a shot to this day. Lol Oh the nights getting off that stool and trying to make my way to the car! It was interesting to say the least! My husband and I laugh about it all the time. He had to hold me all the way to the car saying I was looking up at the ‘starry sky’ saying how beautiful it was! We would spend a good 3 hours there some nights. I hope and pray the new people who buy it will keep its integrity. I would LOVE to take my daughter there for future visits now that she is 22 and can drink Fosters! We even included a “Thanks” to them in our wedding program guide we loved spending time there so much.
Well guys, this whole post went in a different direction than I planned but deserves to be dedicated to the Tortilla Flats we know and love, so I am going to leave you here until Friday my friends! GO VISIT The Flats!

Absolutely love! Such a great trip down memory lane (although I was not yet born for the memories). Wonderful tribute to Tortilla Flats, we’ll be taking a trip before they leave us!
